In 1957 Scientific Plant Service, Inc., was founded in the state of Maryland by Frank J. Burke, who in 1975 sold the business to his employees and went on to develop the horticultural training program at BARC (Baltimore Association For Retarded Citizens). Originally, a full service company providing services in landscape maintenance, mowing and arborculture, its' new, and current president, Kenneth R. Mays, decided in 1977 to streamline the operation and to concentrate on the services we knew best to become a "full service" pesticide application company.

Our management programs involve the use of state-of-the-art techniques and products. When we review your property, recommendations are made that are relevant for your landscape plantings and their current condition, however, unlike most services you aren't compelled to commit for everything suggested. You can do it all or pick and choose as YOU see fit!

Our service area for residential services is limited to the Baltimore metropolitan area to include the counties of; Baltimore, Harford, Carroll, Howard and Ann Arundel. Through education, our service excels. We provide monthly news briefs during the height of the season to our clients along with a 6-8 page newsletter in the Winter all written in house by our staff. Our in-house education program encourages ALL of our employees to become "Certified" though the Maryland Department of Agriculture. Our staff includes Licensed Arborists as well, who can guide you to determine needs for your shade trees! Educating our clients as well as our personnel, is what makes the difference at Scientific Plant Service, Inc. Your technician is a trained professional, not part-time summer help. Our sales personnel are trained diagnosticians and seasoned veterans of our industry, not telemarketers.
